Mother, mentor, poet, artist, volunteer, bestselling author, and host of the Practice You Podcast, Elena Brower has taught yoga and meditation since 1999. After graduating from Cornell University in 1992, she designed textiles and apparel for almost a decade before shifting her focus to yoga, meditation, art, and writing. Her first book, Art of Attention, has been translated into seven languages; her second, Practice You, is a bestseller. Elena's first collection of poetry, Softening Time, was released in May 2023. Elena works to elevate bright futures for girls, women, and children through her support for Girls on Fire Leaders, On The Inside, and Free Food Kitchen. Her spoken word poetry can be heard on Above & Beyond's Flow State albums, and she's commencing Buddhist Chaplaincy training in 2024.

Yoga

Level 1-2 30 mins

This calming Hatha practice allows your mind to rest through a grounding, strengthening sequence. Warm up with Bird Dog, then move steadily through Crescent, Chair Pose, Warrior II, Squat, and Uttanasana (Forward Fold) variations before moving to the floor for Pascimottanasana (Seated Forward Fold), Bridge, Supine Twist, and brief breathwork to finish. This practice starts with a strengthening, brisk Vinyasa sequence followed by a short series of Yin postures at a wall. You’ll let go of dense energy in your body, mind, and heart to finish feeling grounded and stable. The flow includes Sun Salutations, Chair Pose, Plank, Half Moon, and strong standing postures. Then, find calm and nourishment with Gomukhasana, Seated Forward Fold, Legs Up The Wall, and more stretchy Yin poses. This class previously aired on May 6, 2024.

This Vinyasa practice is perfect for working with standing balances, twists, shoulder work, and hip opening on slower days when you crave a light challenge. Enjoy Half Sun Salutes to full Salutations and lots of flowing between postures, including Tree Pose, Warrior III, and Revolved Lunge, then move to the floor for dynamic Bridge, ab work, and baby backbends.
