Fantastic teaching! Enjoyed the learning through various pose "refinement" techniques and felt invigorated and open and peaceful after this 90 minute course :-)! Namaste.

An interesting approach - a little bit hyper but it obviously worked. All students did an amazing back-bends. I like that you lead verbally into Upward Bow.
    • Christina Sell     Mar 27th, 2013
Thanks, sarah. It was a strong class. Not surprised it might have seemed hyper if you weren't in the room. With only 60 minutes to get to the backbends we went quickly!

Thank you so much for this wonderful class! I am a former gymnast with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue so 1- my body is not what it used to be, and 2- I tend to default to my gymnastics training for alignment and that often "gets me in trouble" in yoga. I have a wonderful Anusara teacher locally who has been studying with John Friend for nearly 20 years (and practicing for nearly 40 years) and I have a REALLY hard time finding any teacher/class that can compare to his, especially in the way of detailed alignment instruction... but this class did! I am adding this one to my favorites and excited to check out your other classes. Thanks again!

Thanks, Melissa! I am so glad you enjoyed the practice.

    Hi Christina!
Thank you for the details you bring to each asana......it feels good to slow things down a bit, to get really deep and mindful of my body in the pose. I had to back off of vinyasa a couple months ago to heal my neck, I got from my practice.
These Anusara classes are perfect for me to build a really strong foundation, to support the more power oriented flows,
Thank You for your beautiful contributions!
    Namaste

Thank you, today I will really need that warrior spirit to confront some of my obstacles that I will be facing today. God bless!
    • Christina Sell     Nov 8th, 2012
Great. So happy to hear this!
  • Jen Coco     Oct 2nd, 2012
Sorry Christina, I did not mean to be so harsh on your class. I am just used to 90 minute level 2 classes that integrate a lot more poses and are more challening. Yours was just a little slow paced for me with more talking than I am used to. You have great energy, though, and the first part of the class had me sweating. The handstands were great, too!
    • Christina Sell     Nov 8th, 2012
For some reason the two replies I posted got erased. the main thing I wrote was t you should look for the classes labeled as continuous flow, vinyasa, and the ones that are described as practice-based, flow-based, or breath-based, etc if you do not like to stop and watch demonstrations or hear my personal commentary. Any class labeled anusara, hatha or described as "instructional" or "detail-oriented" will not appeal to you. I teach with a very offer a wider range of stylistic presentation so it is very important to know how to read the class descriptions to know what the class is going to be like. And the great thing about yogaglo is if none of my classes work for you, one of the other awesome teacher's classes will!

This class could probably be condensed into about 30 minutes if the teacher were to eliminate all of the time she spent talking - telling useless stories and making lame jokes. The amount of actual yoga that took place was very little, and I could have gotten more out of a condensed class that didn't take up an hour and a half of my morning!
  • Donna Coghill     Sep 21st, 2012
Awesome class Christina. My first with you. You have a new follower. Thank you.

Great class! Is the shoulder still in socket in handstand once you start to "grow". I saw that you hwere lengthening but not shaw about the shoulders part.

    Thanks

    Namaste
    • Christina Sell     Sep 23rd, 2012
Yes, you keep the strength of the arms- a lot of which is maintained because you are weight bearing in the posture- and then there is a lengthening, stretching and opening of the shoulders which also helps to stretch the spine.
  • Abigail Redman     Apr 25th, 2012
Christina, thank you! Thank you for your sense of humor and for the grace and courage with which you reveal the obstacles you've encountered on your own journey toward shining brighter. I have learned so much from you - you are an inspiration.

  • yogagal      Dec 7th, 2011
Only doing this cause I love the texan as ya all know I'm no fan of "loop" terminology, prefer anatomical names, but then rhomboids etc can't be trademarked, ouch, sorry could not resist. AND also not a fan of 100nstruction, ok perhaps a few percent thrown to theme of root, rise, shine your light which I too can do without. This old yogi prefers 50 or less instruction - 50 breath focused flow.
HOWEVER, my low back felt FABULOUS after this class, adding to my all time favorites. The last uttanasana instruction really stretched my Q.L., see what's so hard about just saying quadratus lumborum, or does this action too have "a loop"
THANK YOU - love instruction when it comes with such clarity.
    • Christina Sell     May 2nd, 2012
You make me smile. I am glad the class worked for you, all things considered!

Thank you for another wonderful class Christina. There have been a number of times when your words during one of your classes has fundamentally changed something for the better for me, and made a shift. Not only physically in asana practice, but in the way I approach my practice and life on and off the mat. I am profoundly grateful.
