description
90 Minute Restorative/Vata-Pacifying Slow, languid, luxurious restorative practices using fluid circular movements, supportive held poses, forward folds and time on the earth help to calm the nervous system, the heart and the mind and help us recover from the ravaging effects of unremitting excessive stress. When our nerves are raw and frayed, a compassionate restorative practice helps us to press the reset button to feel rejuvenated.

    Dear @Hilary
Thanks for the note and the feedback. I'm so glad that this was a helpful follow-up to the practice you taught earlier (sounds like fun--would have loved to have taken your class). The Ayurvedically-inspired practices can be powerful and I'm happy to hear they make sense for you! Keep your eyes open for more.

    Dear @Karen
We all have some aspect of all three doshas within us, and in the world we live in today, the vata dosha holds sway in many ways and we are influenced strongly by its mercurial fluctuations. Taking the time to slow down and calm the inner winds is important to bring us balance. Glad you enjoyed the practice and what you're learning.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful - as always, Felicia. I taught an active class with a lot of heart opening back extensions this morning, and this was the perfect follow-up for my own personal practice this afternoon. I feel relaxed and balanced! I love learning more about Ayurveda and these Ayurveda inspired yoga practices you lead just make SO much sense in my body and spirit! Thank you!!

Wow! I loved this practice. It's been a while since I've done a restorative practice. It's amazing to feel the healing power of yoga in this way. It goes beyond physical movement. I think vata is one of my dominant doshas along with pitta. It was very interesting. I'm learning lots. Thank you Felicia.

Dear Deborah! Oh, I know exactly how you feel! Try the pitta-calming practice that is part of this series and let me know what you think. I like to use the image of water moving through water to create more grace and ease and to evoke the fluid nature of water when I'm feeling on edge.

Thanks Felicia! What's the best type of practise to do if Im feeling critical and annoyed?
  • Felicia Tomasko     November 12 2010
    Deborah

The idea is that a vata-reducing practice creates that sense of calm that helps us to walk through the day (any part of the day) with a sense of ease.

    glad you liked the practice!
