Followed by a Standing Pose Flow to create Heat (Fire) and Sweat (Water) also includes Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon). Then continues with a series of Seated and Supine Poses for grounding (Earth) and concludes with Back Bends (Sky).

I'm watching the guy in the back with the black shirt and grey pants and his elbows are wide as he lowers his plank and I'm surprised Steven has corrected him as he walks past him. If continued, will this not put undo stress on his shoulder and rotater (spl) cuff?
    • Steven Espinosa     Sep 4th, 2012
Hi Susan! Thanks for your comment! You have a good eye! I watched the video and yes, you are correct. His elbows were bending a little too far out to the side which would put added stress on all the joints. You may have also noticed he has broad shoulders which many men do. In order to get more widening and space in the shoulder girdle sometimes it does help to slightly bend the elbows out to the side to access the upper back muscles. But I would agree his were a little too wide. Also, in every class before the camera rolls, I always ask if anybody has any injuries. If he were to mention his rotator cuff was bothering him I would give some suggestions before class began and try to help him during class as well. I wish it were possible for me to catch every misalignment but I do the best I can. So I appreciate the extra help! Have a great day, Steven.

Steven, thanks for responding. I totally understand the inability to correct everyone in a class. As a teacher, its almost impossible if the attendance is more than a few. I totally love this site. It gives me the opportunity to view the techniques other teachers incorporate in their classes and learn new poses. My classes truly love (most of the time)this.
