High Flying Flow

Vinyasa Flow | By Dice Iida-Klein on Aug 22 2012
This flow incorporates all the essential elements of a 60 minute flow practice. We use a block and blanket to fire up our bandhas in our Surya Namaskar A and we follow it up with a strong standing sequence. Many handstand options are given through out class for those of you high flyers! Enjoy my fellow yogis.

Dice, just want to thank you for getting me closer to handstand vinyasa every time i do one of your classes. Holding the knee in close to the chest while you kick up was like a new awakening for me!

Amazingly effective tips for engaging the core to go to handstands, which I've struggled with for 2 years. Thank you! By the way, how is your first name pronounced??

Handstand kick ups seem to cause my old tennis elbow injury to flame up. Any advice for what I may be doing wrong? Thank you!
    • Dice Iida-Klein     Sep 26th, 2012
Without actually seeing your body, I can't tell you exactly what it is. But, here are a few tips. First try turning your hands out...index fingers parallel to the sides of your mat. Focus on pressing through the index and thumb knuckles. Hug the forearms in as if there were a block there and wrap your inner biceps forward, triceps wrap the other direction. I hope that helps!
    • Dice Iida-Klein     Sep 11th, 2012
Try using a strap around the triceps. Measure the strap to shoulders width and work on pressing through the inner hand when kicking up. Also consider the placement of your hands before going up. Try turning your hands out enough that your index fingers are parallel to the sides of your mat. let me know if that helps!
