Balance & Awaken

Kundalini | By Kia Miller on Jun 01 2012
Balance and awaken your lower triangle area: base of spine, hips and navel point. This activating sequence will generate heat and energy, and is the perfect set-up for the mediation that follows. The meditation uses the mantra Ek Ong Kar-uh, Sa Ta Na Ma -(uh), Sire Wha-(uh) He Guru. Some effects of this meditation are as follows: helps you to access your creative potential and focus on your real priorities, fixes your energy and attention on your deepest essence. Please note that you use the bhandas (energetic locks) through this meditation. After Ek Ong Kar draw up the pelvic floor as you say -uh, after Sa Ta Na Ma draw the thoracic diaphragm up as you say -hu, after Siri Wa draw neck lock on -uh, now relax all locks as you say He Guru! It will make sense when you do it!

After more then a month doing nothing because of recovering after a mountainbike accident, my first practice. Wow Kia, this was just the kriya I needed. Could you give me the original kriya as well. Sat nam!

This was such an amazing practice. During the meditation/chanting, I sort of melted into myself. By the time it was over it felt like no time had passed at all. So powerful and wonderful! Thank you, Kia! Namaste!

I like the structure of this class. The kriya is fierce! And I love the words of wisdom, I had tears of gratitude in my eyes during savasana. Thank you!

Hi Kia, wonderful way to start the day! :) Could you explain how to breath during the meditation/meditation prep we did at the end? Thank you. Thank you. Peace, Emma.
    • Kia Miller     Sep 25th, 2012
Hi Emma, the breath tends to take care of itself as you chant. When you pull in the navel at each 'uh' the breath comes in right afterwards in a little rush... hope that makes sense!

    Kia,
I cannot due the spine rolls (not even the baby rolls) because of problems with my midback it will spasm and i don't have enough core strength, what can i do for a modification. thank you and love classes.

    Linda
    • Kia Miller     Aug 23rd, 2012
Dear Linda, rather than spinal rolls, do some cat/cow instead - should be much gentler on your back and still encourage the energy to move along the spine. Let me know how that goes.
      Blessings, Kia

Thanks, Kia. I forgot to mention that I was referring to quiet meditation straight after the whole kriya. I loved the chanting meditation - felt exactly as you described. Expected the feeling to continue during and after meditation but felt the reverse. Will have to keep practicing. Thanks you.
  • Ling Tan     Jul 5th, 2012
    Thanks Kia. Great class.
Question: I find that my meditation drifts in and out of a sleep-like mode and I feel sleepy instead of energised after the class. Should I be doing something differently?
    • Kia Miller     Jul 5th, 2012
If you are lifting up your belly and diaphragm on the "UH" part of the meditation then you will feel more energized. This is supposed to be an active meditation - or one could say a meditation prep, so that once you have finished the chanting you feel deeply connected and alert, yet calm. Use the bhandas as you chant and see if it changes anything.

Kia,This was my second Kundalini class and I got the surrender during the breath of fire. Letting go of self, I practice this with prayer, to do it on my yoga mat is amazing, to be able to go inside as a contemplative is awesome! The final chant you used we also say at church, "though we are many we are one body because we share in one bread." Finally, "we are exactly where we need to be," another Christian teaching. Made more profound by, the person we want to be is who we are right now. I'm so glad you are doing YogaGlo classes Kia.Vivienne in London, England.
    • Kia Miller     Jun 25th, 2012
Thanks Vivienne! So happy you enjoying the practice and bringing your full Self to it...
