New Mama Practice

Pre/Post Natal | By Stephanie Snyder on Jul 21 2012
This practice is for the new mama who is ready to start putting things back together. Gentle core strengthening, a few standing poses, shoulder openers and pigeon pose. Finish with a side bend and straddle forward fold. This is a great practice to come back to several times a week to help regain strength while unwinding all of the tight spots that come from nursing, holding, and caring for your new little lump of joy.

Hi Stephanie, thank you this was such a nice practice. Only way to find enough time was to start it at 5.30am but all worth it. Now I feel strong, stretched (as much as my super unflexible body can be) and chilled to start the day with my 4 lovely monkeys. Have a lovely day xxx from London

Dear Stephanie, Erica Weitz, a friend of mine recently moved to Amsterdam pointed me to your classes and they recharge my life, lift my spirits the works. While a babysitter is no option thanks to these classes I am able to stretch and clear my head. It is the difference between jaw clenching/teary eyed and just resetting all systems. I make regular visits to myself through these videos of yours. Thank you so much! Caroline

Thank you soooo much, I'm starting to feel like me again thanks to your classes! It is hard to find the time but so worth it (even when the baby is shouting and my two year old 'helping' me do a pose!)

Thank you! The abdominal sequence was perfectly paced to engage those post partum core muscles with intention and concentration. Lovely reminders of the patience needed to thrive in motherhood as well. Namaste!

Thank you! I am a fortysomething first-time mother of an 11-month old baby. Prior to and during pregnancy I was very active. It has been a struggle to return to my previous level of activity due to work, sleep deprivation and various "nursing injuries." I've had to rethink my notion of rigor. This practice was both challenging and nurturing, and I am very grateful, namaste.

Hi Stephanie, thanks so much! I am only 3 weeks postpartum so haven't got round to doing this yet, but just wondering if you can post some more sequences like this, maybe shorter? 20 mins, 30 mins? Looking forward to getting back into my practice xxx

It is a nice and gently strng: ) practice, but I'm interested are poses like straddle forward fold, pigeon, Baddha Konasana, Warrior II and sim. contraindicated with having a history of post partum DSP (Diastasis Symphysis Pubis)?
    Thanx and Namaste!
