Cultivate a Deep and Generous Connection to Your Self

Vinyasa Flow | By Elena Brower on Sep 04 2012
With thanks to viewer/student Svetla for this thoughtful theme request, this practice is for you to cultivate a deep and generous connection to yourSELF. For the times when you're forgetting to take care of yourself, or blaming others for not taking care of you, create a strong structure, a generous connection to the Earth and a super soft interior space. Sun salutations, standing poses, backbends throughout, a simultaneously calming and energizing practice.

Thanks E. For a while I stopped doing your classes from thinking they were too easy and slow. I've just come back to them and man how I realize how they once served me they will serve me again. You are my current number one tool to help me slow down and soften - after myself - with myself. I thank you dearest Elena. Again and again. Please keep new classes coming. Yours.

Thank you Elena! As always beautiful in many ways! I felt emotionally exhausted after this practice. Do you have any suggestions for re-energizing after releasing so much stress and emotion? Thank you!
    • Elena Brower     Apr 8th, 2013
perhaps to reenergize a little inversion like legs-up-the-wall or even a headstand would be a nice energizing pose if you need to get going... let me know how that works, Julez!

I often avoid a vinyasa practice....it feels rushed, forced shallow, westernized and lead by the ego. This was beautiful and real and connected to all that extends beyond our body! Thank you Elena for you gentle firmness and words.

    Peace.

      MARY! Thank you!

Yoga showed me today another new way of seeing me. Elena Brower said, “External boundaries, Inner softening.” And then all I felt was breath up against boundaries and breaths of inner softening. How do you explain when the breath breathes the space of you? It doesn’t feel so physical anymore. It feels likes rubber bands of energy and the space between. It feels like something singular and something so wide open in a pencil point. My body. MY body. It’s brand new to me today.
  • Shawn LaDuke     Oct 1st, 2012

Elena, what a beautiful class. Your ability to expand time and fit into a 90 minute yoga class all the wholeness and transformation that you do is truly genius. Your classes always inspire me to shine my light more fully. Much love and om.

Dearest Elena, this is the most Sacred* practice. Thank YOU :) I have felt moments of Golden Silence, like never before* You are a gift of SELF-LOVE and I bow in gratitude to your light* Even though it had a lot of awakening back bends, it generated a sublime, profound release which enabled me to close my day in blissful peace* The perfect practice for anytime of the day :) It's a sure favorite! Thank YOU for sharing your love and light with us! ALL My Heartfelt LOVE XOXOXOX

  • Diana Cullum-Dugan     Sep 9th, 2012
Elena, loved the practice. In the beginning, the part of me that is a teacher wondered about the sequencing that was unfolding, the slowness of the pace, and then the teacher part gave me space to be the student. The unfolding was phenomenal, purposeful, and opening. Thanks for bringing me to the space of caring for myself thru Earth's connection. Mucho love!

    ment to say 'great practice'
  • Svetla Atkinson     Sep 8th, 2012
Hi Elena! Thanks again! Love it more each time. And thanks for mentioning me, but it is you who created a grat practice! Can I use the opportunity to ask a question? It is re the backbends. I have practiced yoga for quite a while now but still have a huge issue with backbends. For a start I do not seem to look forward to them at all and it feels as if there is a huge blockage somewhere, but it isn't in the shoulders as I feel very very comfortable with twists, any twists. Love standing poses the most. But backbends ... big issue for me. Any tips as to how to approach the problem the best? Thanks very much!
    • Elena Brower     Sep 9th, 2012
spend the next few weeks just elevating your heart inside - first thing, in every pose - but especially in your backbends. report back on how that plays out in your system... have fun with it
      • Svetla Atkinson     Sep 11th, 2012
will do. thanks very much! And just to mention I am going thopugh your chakra classes right now and love them too! and fits with your idea of body awaraness. I think awareness + yoga = great idea :)!
