Relieve Low Back Pain

Pre/Post Natal | By Stephanie Snyder on Apr 21 2012
This class is geared towards the third trimester of your pregnancy and relieving the common low back pain that comes with such rapid changes in the body. This is for any level of student that wants to learn how to correct and release tension in the back. It is a sweet sequence that will recover some movement in your tight and stiff lower back. We will begin with 2 wide legged seated poses then move through simple and soothing hip openers and standing poses. You will feel better after this class! You will need 2 blocks and a blanket.

I think this is also a great 2nd trimester class for days when energy is low but I feel tight. I will definitely keep coming back to this class throughout my pregnancy. I love the hip circles!

I am 36 weeks with #2 and have been doing this class over and over for a few weeks now -- ever since that relaxin started kicking in and my pelvis has started aching with the changes. I practice after waking up since I am so sore from sleeping in the night. I am a certified yoga teacher and prenatal, but it is interesting how when your own body gets creaky and cranky, you need someone else to tell you what to do. I am so grateful for this short, morning opener that gets my hips and low back loosened up after a long, (semi-)static night. Thank you!!

It's such an amazing experience to have a relationship before during and after pregnancy! Happy to walk the road with you.

    Stephanie,

I have really enjoyed your prenatal yoga practices. I have always been an active exerciser and early in my 2nd trimester, I was put on light duty due to placenta previa. Your yoga classes have stretched my aching body in all the right ways. This class especially spoke to my achy parts. Thank you for the varied times and class offerings. Blessings to you and your family!

I love all your classes and have been following you prenatal series for weeks now, but this class was above and beyond- I have an extra spring in my step today. Not only my back, but my hips finally remembered where they are supposed to be. I start my third trimester today, and I feel a lot more prepared for it than I did 2 hours ago. Thank you.

I can't believe how perfect this class is for relieving back heaviness. I'm 39 weeks pregnant with my 1st baby and just breathing into the back body lightened the load significantly. Thank you Stephanie for your simple yet profound classes. Namaste!

    Hi Stephanie
I'm loving your classes - thank you. It would be so great if you could put together a practice for women with SPD - I find that I can't do many of the wide legged poses.
    Thank you :-)
    Jenny

Hey Jenny- Ah SPD, uncomfortable. Take care to modify the standing poses as much as you need to- work pain free.

Hi Stephanie, thanks so much for this wonderful class! I feel so much better after it. Could you please create some more 30 minute classes? Especially hamstring and hip openers, which are getting very tight as I progress in my pregnancy. Thanks so much!
    • stephanie snyder     Apr 30th, 2013
      Absolutely!

Stephanie, seriously you are saving me right now! I woke up feeling like the old man in the movie Up, practiced with you and feel so fluid. Now both sides of my body feel long and even; especially my hips and my shoulder blades have dropped down my back. Before the pain in my back, I think made me tense up so much that my shoulders were almost to my ears with me hunches over.

Amazing, you're an angel, a huge ray of light and your gift is so incredible. Thank you so much for your authentic and genuine dedication. I hope you know how far you touch people and help us heal our bodies. Thank you thank you thank you. I am sending you so much love back because today Im confident I will make it up into my car and up/down stairs without the snap crackle pop.

Lorie- Thank YOU. Having been through 2 pregnancies myself, it is a privilege to practice with you during this time in your life. I get it. Sending you so much love!

Hi Stephanie, I enjoy your teaching it is very helpful! I'm 22 weeks pregnant. I'm at a point where I still want a physical/ strong/ strengthening practice but my belly and I get stuck in other classes not geared toward pregnancy. I would love to see a class that is more challenging for us pregos.

Oh! One thing more, I loved what you said at the end about the Universe supporting mama, such a great thing to say. I loved that. As a mom, it is often what we need to hear. What a gift.
