Deep, Cleansing Twist Practice

You will use the wall to create more efficient leverage and access hard-to-reach  areas in this deep, cleansing twist practice. While most twists focus on unwinding the back-body, the use of the wall will also open the front of your shoulders and chest. In preparation for these unique twists, you will do your fare share of hip-openers and just enough standing poses.

    Fabulous! First twist really gets into my tight elbows and shoulders, second one is simply the most amazing twist I've ever felt - so deep!

    Jason, I've recently injured my wrist and can barely put any weight on it. I miss my daily dose of yogaglo as there are not many wrist free classes. (I've taken yours and they are great!) this class was perfect, I just modified down dog into dolphin, forearm plank, and head stand instead. The twists at the wall felt great! Thank you so much for your great teaching skills. :) Namaste

    Thanks for this... I'm in the midst of a Spring cleanse and I got a bit of a "panic" sensation just after the last wall twists, during shavasana - I knew I really got in there and released some pent-up energy. Great class!

    I really enjoyed this practice, thank you! I don't think I had my positioning right in the first twist against the wall so it didn't quite make sense but I moved further away for the second and third then...BAM! I felt the opening in my chest and shoulders! This is definitely one to do again and again to access that wonderful feeling of expansion. Namaste!

    This one goes straight to the top of the favorites list! It was so deep for the hips and shoulders. As an added bonus, it forced me to clean behind the furniture.

    Nancy - my apologies for the delay! My advice is to do the same practice but to be more mild with the intensity. Sometimes when something feels good we tend to overdo it slightly. Also, make sure you're sitting high enough and emphasizing the elongation of your spine. When in doubt, back off a bit.

    Hi Jason thanks for this wonderful class! I love your precise cues and attention to the subtle sensations and biomechanics. The twists at the wall felt so amazing while I was doing them. Then later in the day my lower back felt achey and painful. Do you have any tips on how I might modify the twists so I could still get that same opening through my torso without my lower back getting involved? Gracias!

    Soooo great! I have tight shoulders that often will roll forward causing my chest to not be so expansive. This practice counteracted that and opened my chest and shoulders up so that I felt incredibly open and light. Thank you, Jason. Definitely adding this one to my favorites! Om shanti.
