The Full Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is also called Yoga Chikitsa, or yogic cleansing program. Utilizing Breath, Bandhas and Drishti, students are led through a continuous Vinyasa series that cleanses and detoxifies the body while creating strength and flexibility. This is a strong practice and is not recommended as a starting point.

    many thanks once again Jodi. I have been practicing astanga (I think) little over 2 years did an astanga teacher training this summer...and have been working in a studio that decided to do astanga classes. No other studio does this in our city - so felt like I should keep astanga alive in this city. Long story short - it is tough to teach this...always have done my own practice and quite a challenge to teach. many thanks because I use your classes as a teaching tool...appreciate any advice you have for a new astanga teacher.

      Leigh Ann - Its really nice to hear you are teaching and I definitely appreciate how challenging that process is. I recommend you check out some of my level 1 classes here on GLO - look at how i share the basics. Try to be in beginners mind with the students, and be realistic about how much they can absorb and physically handle when they start. Happy to share more, please feel free to be in touch.

    Because I do home practice on my own, I find some of the flow to be a bit fast (especially during bhujapidasana-bakasana-chaturanga) maybe because on my own I like to take my time, nevertheless, it's always great to have a LED class once in a while. Definitely your navasana counting is longer than mine! Also in urdvha dhanurasana!

    My body feels great now. Heard my spine crack and a few pops here and there- all realligned now! Thank goodness. Yoga Chikitsa does my body good!
