Vinyasa Flow | By Tiffany Cruikshank on Feb 21 2012
This is a preparation and explanation of kala bhairavasana breaking it down step by step and showing modifications to lead up to this advanced posture. Lots of great deep hip work so don't be scared just modify as needed and take what you need.

OMG Tiffany that's the first time I've gotten both legs behind my head right to the shoulder! Still not able to rock up and do the vinyasa but that will come with time. Thanks! x

Wowza! I have done this class before, got further...still unable to do finale...perseverence!
When we put the ankle by the knee & sole of ft on floor & push that knee away - what is that stretching? What's the benefit ? - I do love it ! Once again thank you for your ease & grace, beauty & wisdom - how you pack it all in I don't know!

Thanks Huda, it's hard to tell without seeing but this shouldn't be a problem, I would check that you have the correct rotation of the hips and the knee turning out and make sure you're moving the calf out of the way. When in doubt though keep working the hips, that's generally a good rule of thumb since this pose requires a ton of opening in the hips. :)

Excellent indstruction. How can I overcome my anatomical shortcomings so that i can get comfortably into the final pose? I have super long torso and short limbs, but I am hyperflexible in my hips and shoulders. Do I need to do more reps. of hip openings?

That was fun trying. Didn't quite manage to look as graceful as you but I can see that it's quite do-able with a bit (actually a lot) of practice.

Great sequence, Tiffany, thank you. I must ask, where is your outfit from? I especially love your top. Spring is coming and it's time for some new yoga clothes :)

Hi Tiffany, great sequence for opening up for the kala bhairavasana. I can get the foot behind the head, but can't straighten the extended leg. I've been working on this pose...it's challenging to extend the spine. I loved the ending sequence. As always, love ur classes...thx!
