Shoulders & Hips Rejoice

Hatha | By Felicia Tomasko on Jan 20 2012
We took requests and what came up? The shoulders and the hips. This Yin/Restorative mash-up combines circular movement of the joints, work with the shoulders in unusual positions (check out funky chicken as the peak pose), hip opening forward folds and a supportive backbend with blocks to allow energy to freely flow through the largest joints of the body. Breathe space into these areas to release tension and allow the heart to radiate and shine!

Love the class. How do I add it to my favorites. Does yoga glow have this capability?

Dear Theresa, what great relaxation, when you realize you have caught yourself snoring. Glad you enjoyed and hope you continue to find good rest. Felicia

Dear Judith, isn't it great when we're led to just the right class at the right time?! Especially when we're guided by something other than expectations. I'm delighted that this delivered. Hope you had a good sleep in happy baby pose ;-) and that you have the opportunity to return again to this or a similar practice. Thank for your feedback. See you on the path! Felicia

Felicia, I just feel that I'm led to the right class at the right time...didn't even know your class was just what I needed today but found you all the same. From the heart, I say thank-you. I may sleep in happy baby pose tonight

Dear Kelly, Plenty of yoga practices are weird! Fortunately, we do them anyway. How sweet that Doofus was able to join in on the Yoga mashup action and glad he could keep you company in tummy rubs for those long forward folds. Currently, I'm finishing up the February issue of LA YOGA, and then I'll be ready for one of those forward folds myself! Have a great weekend and thanks for the note, Felicia
  • Kelly Feenan     Jan 28th, 2012
Thank you Felicia, that was fun. Funky chicken was...weird! Doofus, my 11 month black lab rescue especially liked the long forward folds. Perfect position for extended tummy rubs! Have a great weekend Kelly

Dear Jane, thanks for your note. Just like a rose by any other name still smells as sweet, so a yoga practice we love, no matter the label or box, liberates us fully! See you again on the mat I hope! Felicia
  • Jane M     Jan 22nd, 2012
Great whatever... Always feel better about things after your classes. Thanks for not keeping it in a box.

Dear Debbie, thanks for your note. I'll need to rewatch the class in order to give you an appropriate recommendation, so I'll do that. Please tune back in for my answer! Felicia

Dear Gloria, thanks for the note & for practicing with me. I appreciate the feedback about the class label. Some of my classes are a combination of some yin, some Restorative, some mixed Hatha, so sometimes I have trouble deciding. Hearing people's experiences is always helpful, so thank you for sharing. But overall, thank you for participating! Felicia
  • Gloria      Jan 21st, 2012
Nice opening.. i love your classes Felicia. Thank you.. but seems like this should be either under Yin or Restorative, no?
  • Deborah Allnutt     Jan 21st, 2012
    Hi Felicia,

Dear Kathy, I meant to say I'm glad ;-). Ah, the typos that seem to have a mind of their own. Happy practicing! Felicia
  • Felicia Tomasko     Jan 20th, 2012
Dear Kathy, isn't it great when we're looking for something (hip and shoulder practice) and then find it? I'm goad all of us at Yogaglo could be of service to you. Thanks for the note. Absolutely, we'll keep them coming! There's a rich bank of content in the archives that you can use for practice any time and we're always filming new content. See you again on the mat, Felicia
  • Felicia Tomasko     Jan 20th, 2012
Dear Patricia, many of my classes are a bit of a combination between yin & Hatha, like this one. It makes it challenging sometimes to place a class accurately in a category, but we do the best we can. In any case, the shoulder work from any angle is vitally important. Thanks for sharing your comments & for participating in the class. Felicia
  • Kathy Leahy     Jan 20th, 2012
Soo good - thank you, Felicia. I was looking for a shoulder and hip class and this was perfect. Keep them coming!
  • Patricia Barrett     Jan 20th, 2012
Excellent - more yin I think than Hatha but amazing shoulder work - breathing deeply. Thank you!
