Kathryn thanks so much. It is amazing what a different perspective can do. I found I could do much more than I thought once I thought positively and let go of some of my fear. I think that's my biggest issue - especially in yoga! Your point about practice also hit home as I think a lot of us compare to others and just think we are not strong enough to do particular poses, when it is all just practice! Thanks so much. :) Namaste!

Kathryn, you made my day! Look forward not down while in Crow! That simple instruction made everything so easy. Now I can easily hold the pose for more than just a shaky second! And I did my first Side Crow with the elbow under the hip! Yay!! You are a wonderful teacher! Thank you!
  • Kimberly de Lara     Feb 17th, 2014
I thought I wasn't going to be able to do the crow. Was starting to get discouraged, I was wobbling big time. Baby bakasana did the trick. Thank you Kathryn. I will practice every day until I get this right. You have been very helpful! Keep up the great work.
    • Kathryn Budig     Feb 17th, 2014
congrats on the breakthrough! try not to get discouraged (i know how easy it is to) and keep trying! some of these poses take so much time. xoxo
  • barbara Obergfell     Jan 26th, 2014
Thank you for the lesson in fearlessness. I am full of fear when it comes to arm balances; hugely humbling for me. This class is now a part of my home practice.

  • Lex Brown     Nov 29th, 2013
Kathryn I will keep with me the metaphor of inviting the things I want in my life to my party, and remembering that I have to entertain them! I spent most of the practice falling onto my face, but I was also able to release other fears that have been lurking in the back of my mind for the past few months. Thank you!
  • Augen Die     Oct 14th, 2013
    Hey Kathryn,
Thanks for the great class, it has helped me to get started with Crow pose, still a long way to go, but your explanations and tips are top and your jokes cheered my boyfriend and I up a lot.
    Luv,
    Nicole & Stefan

  • saori hirota     Sep 10th, 2013
Hi Kathryn, from side crow pose, how can I lengthen both of my legs to side? I found it is hard to keep the pose as my legs are heavy. From there, how can I split my legs side and back? It would be great if you can break these down and make a tutorial video as "Arm balancing for intermediate folks". Thank you~:)
    • Kathryn Budig     Jan 27th, 2014
will write up a class for that:)
  • Nor Dee Dee MY     Sep 6th, 2013

  • Olivia Johnson     Jul 15th, 2013
Just read the first post and I agree, me too. You said exactly what I needed to hear today. Leave the drama behind and go with expansion, belief, love and hope. And fly! Thanks Kathryn.
    • Kathryn Budig     Jan 27th, 2014
      enjoy your flight:)
  • Sara Hernandez     Jul 5th, 2013

      big love back to you:)
  • Caroline Milliken     Jun 11th, 2013
I came to this practice to work on my arm balances and came away with a new mantra to live by. "Choosing to move to a place were you are full of hope, belief, trust and love". I guess that's yoga for you and it doesn't come much better than this. Thank you Kathryn so much.
    • Kathryn Budig     Jun 11th, 2013
      perfect:)
  • Yasmin McGinnis     May 19th, 2013
You are such a fun teacher. I love how your personality took the intimidation away from these poses. I held my crow for a few breaths today and your details helped alot. Thanks so much!

      thank you and congrats!

    • Kathryn Budig     May 19th, 2013
      much appreciated:)
  • Susie Daily     Mar 15th, 2013
Loved this! First time I've successfully gotten my weight off my feet and all thanks to such detailed, broken down instructions--the way you describe what to do, if I just follow your instructions I find myself suddenly in the position and wondering how on earth that was possible! Must stay positive :) Thank you!
    • Kathryn Budig     May 19th, 2013
      anything is possible:)
  • Michelle Wood-Colston     Mar 7th, 2013
Great class--first time I've ever paused to repeat the poses!

  • Nichole Welch     Mar 7th, 2013
Such a fun, wonderful class! I will approach my day with a new sense of Self as I remember the exhilaration of reaching poses I thought were way too advanced for me, plus the humility of NOT reaching the poses that are just out of reach. Will do again and again :-)
    • Kathryn Budig     May 19th, 2013
      beautiful
  • Thea Lornie     Mar 6th, 2013

  • Natasha Palmisano     Mar 6th, 2013
Although I've attempted these poses many times, it was so refreshing to start back at square one and really work into getting into the arm balances. Side crow was always such a mystery to me - but today I was able to hold it without the support of my hip! It was brief, but I did it! It's important to realize that some days you'll need the "training wheels" and some days you won't. Nothing wrong with that!
    • Kathryn Budig     Mar 6th, 2013
      100% agree!
  • Casey Lebwohl     Mar 6th, 2013
What a positive experience! I loved the step by step guidance and the sense of positivity!
  • Lorie Mackey     Mar 6th, 2013
Thanks for this Kathryn. I don't have a sense for where to put the weight of my legs during crow - do they "rest" on the triceps? is it just arm strength that is holding everything up?

    Lorie
    • Kathryn Budig     Mar 6th, 2013
as little on your arms as you can. . you want it to be a full body experience so you don't wear out your arms. round your upper back to engage the core and hug your inner thighs towards each other to fire up your legs.
  • guher kotan     Mar 6th, 2013
    Oh Dear Lovely Kathryn!

This beautiful approach has shifted my point of view so sweatly that I was singing in the shower and dancing :) Thank you. There was a lot of seriousness and fear accumulated and they are washed away I am looking forward to practice tomorrow !! Thank you so much!! NAMASTE Love with all my heart, be blessed in every moment of your life...
    • Kathryn Budig     Mar 6th, 2013

Excellent class and very challenging, Kathryn! I love the way you have walked us through the different poses today- your instructions are so easy to follow. I just wish you were standing next to me to get my leg out and into flying pigeon.

I have been doing yoga for years and always TRY to do the more advanced postures but have never learned how to do them, so instead of dreaming and hoping, I chose a class labelled beginner and I loved it, thank you for teaching me the side pigeon, what a sense of achievement!!!! I will be doing this regularly and the other 'teaching' classes. Thank you xxx

  • Xanthe Strudwick     Nov 25th, 2011
First time arm Balancer and I was like a baby learning to walk. I'd suddenly find myself in an arm balance, think, freak and fall...but with a smile...and a determination to get back up and try again. Baby steps...but steps in the right direction! Thanks X
  • Maritza Guido     Nov 16th, 2011

Yay did side crow with the block for the first time - biggest smile :-)
  • Erica Struble     Jul 31st, 2011
Really great class! I too, feel as though I've learned so much in 60 minutes! I especially loved the side crow with the use of the block. It certainly made the pose more accessible. My hip flexors have been wonky all my life because of being a dancer, but now I know how to strengthen them and make them happy. I'll be putting this one in weekly routine. I have always wanted to do arm balances and fly. Thanks for giving me the tools to do so. Om shanti.
  • Kerry McKenzie     Jul 31st, 2011
I feel like I've made more progress in the last 60 minutes than in the last two years. I have always used my deafness as an excuse for not being able to balance, but it looks as if I've been wrong all along. I'm very grateful to you for taking the time to dream up this class and help me out. Peace.
  • Cheryl Carter     Jul 31st, 2011
Wow, this class is lovely! Thank you for your grace and ease and for putting life back into perspective!
