Description
Need to stimulate your immune system? Need to remove internal stagnation? Need to open the heart and flush the lymphatic system? This practice combines supported backbends with twists and sequences that increase circulation through all the far-flung spaces in the body to support detoxification and cleansing any time of the year. This class incorporates principles of Ayurveda to reduce an excess of the kapha dosha and encourage greater lightness and internal space.
my tears ran down my cheeks whilst opening the heart.

My pleasure! I'm glad you enjoyed the class! Yoga is such an amazing experiential practice....it's not about what you think or believe, it's about what you feel. Ultimately, that's what's important and I'm glad you found that meaningful.
See you on the mat,
Felicia
Om shanti, shanti, shanti.

There is a famous saying that goes something like this: You don't have to believe in the water to get wet when you swim in the ocean.
So, you don't have to know anything about Ayurveda to benefit from the practice.
Ayurveda is one of the healing traditions native to India that shares a lot of the same philosophy and way of looking at the body as Yoga.
The Kapha dosha is the energetic quality of air and ether or space. When the kapha dosha is out of balance, we may feel a sense of stagnation in the body. This type of practice helps us dislodge what is stuck--something that is helpful in creating balance.
I'm glad you enjoyed the practice. See you on the mat!

Thank you for your heartfelt note. My teaching comes from years of my own practice and diving into the everyday philosophy of Ayurveda and how we can incorporate it in our everyday lives. I see it as cross-training, and I often practice many different types of yoga (including with the Anusara teachers at Yogaglo).
Stress and imbalance can certainly throw off our immune system and all of the systems of our body.
I hope the restorative practices are helping to restore ;-) balance in your own body and many your practice help you find healing.
See you on the mat.
With gratitude,
Felicia
